Skeleton Week

A few weeks ago kolby informed me that he'd like to learn about skeletons. Our own theme weeks have been fewer and fewer with kolby going to preschool. I was all too excited to get back into things. We got a ton of amazing books at the library, made these awesome paper skeletons (template was free online), and drew our very own skeletons in the driveway. My truck driver neighbor even got into it. Um...i made the kids trace him, tracing his legs got a bit awkward:) We named the major bones and now kolby goes around asking if things have skeleltons. Its perfect for Halloween!

Pickleball Party

To celebrate daniel's b-day (18th), my bday (19th) and mark's b-day (20th) i put together a friendly game of pickleball. The weather was perfect! If you've never played pickleball trust me you're missing out! Its a family obession with the Sweetwoods which i have so graciously spread to the Lawtons. Daniel's sister even bought us this awesome matching shirts one year for our birthdays:) Now if i could just spread the obession to my friends so we had people to play with all the time it would be swell.

The Birthday peeps. um i think daniel is attempting to show off his t-shirt, not his belly. Oh yes and you can totally see my baby bump poking through.

The girlies!

The men setting up the court.
matchy matchy:)

Is there anything more annoying...

than a nagging cough? how about irritable phlem? or perhaps an already sensitive gag reflex forced to cough up a lung and then all your food?
***
Hmmm perhaps even more annoying is the mom that calls to cancel preschool an hour before it starts. Now that is annoying! Seriously though how was i supposed to teach 6 kiddos without a voice and from the bathroom? hopefully they will forgive me for ruining their days and thank me for not sharing my germs.
***
On a positive side. Olivia is the best sick day companion. Kolby hung out with grandma and Ellie all day so it was just Olivia and I at the house. She's a totally follower so basically she did anything i wanted to. Which consisted of laying on the couch to watch Wonder Pets for a few hours, taking a shower, coloring, taking a 3 hour nap, reading books together, and watching Cinderella. She even asked me if i was ok after every hacking session. So sweet! The only thing that she has to work on is making me the Chicken Noodle Soup, but come on she's only 2. Seriously though if you're in need of a good sick day buddie i may start renting her out:)
***
Oh actually i just thought of something even more annoying...this post? no. that was rude. I happened to leave my phone charger in Utah. genius i know. my cell died yesterday and we don't have a land line. Now no one can reach me. Plain Annoying.

27

So i turned 27 yesterday. I actually read my birthday post from last year, last week as i was looking through my blurb book with the kids. I think i mentioned something like having 2 kids, too many stretch marks and 2 gray hairs. I also said only the gray hairs were going to multiply. Guess i was wrong eh?
Actually I realized yesterday how completely happy and content I am. (This is usually a quiet before the storm type of feeling i know but why not enjoy it while it lasts!)
I woke up and miraculously had no morning sickness! (Thanks to my sis-in-law Di's birthday wish, I am sure). Daniel bought me yummy donuts which i fully enjoyed!
Then i ordered fajitas for 5 at my fav restraunt Alicia's. And enjoyed a lunch at Holly's house with Kathy, Rosie, Sachi, Holly, and the kiddos.
The weather here was gorgeous so i took the kids to the park and sat on the bench enjoying the hillarious Shopoholic series. seriously makes me giggle.
I managed to sqeeze in a nap, 2 piano lessons, and then i somehow tricked Daniel into watching Bride and Prejudice (a Indian take on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice) He hated it. I thought it was so silly.
It was the perfect end to my perfect birthday and my momentarily perfect life. Perhaps 27 isn't so bad afterall.

Wedding Weekend

One disgusting cold sore * a case of morning sickness on an airplane * a nasty cold * seeing my BFF in the whole world be blissfully happy.... * so worth it!!! This is my BFF Lindsey. She e-mailed me this pic which was taken by Jessica Kettle our other BFF who is amazingly talented and makes people like me want to get married all over again just so she can take my pictures!! See more of her work at http://lookthroughmylens.blogspot.com/ Trust me you won't be disappointed.. Since i however am no where near a photographer i just have a bunch of silly pics of our girls night. I was way too busy to take pictures on the actually wedding day, lame i know, so I am desperately hoping people will send some to me:) Here's lindsey and I waiting for our other BFF Tracy at the airport. It happened to be missionary homecoming day in Salt Lake so we quickly made a welcome sign just to fit in with the rest of the crowd. From there we met up with Jessica and went to Park City to play dress-up and take Lyns to a Kareoke Bar which turned out to just be a regular bar...oops. Of course what a a bunch of Mormon girls gonna do at a bar? esp a prego one? Yep. A round of Shirly Temples on the rocks:)
We manged to get a grueling game of darts in before i had to leave from the second hand smoke. We are such party animals:)
ah yes and the only pic I took of us right before she left. Man i love love love this girl. It was such a fun and emotional weekend! We've been BFFs since 7th grade. I feel honored to be among her billion of BFs! I cried like a baby just seeing her bridal pics! I'm so happy for her and can die happy knowing that she is so happy and being so well taken care of. Welcome to the married club! love ya!

Boys vs. Girls

On Monday i decided to have some girl time with Olivia. I painted her nails. She was soooo excited to show Kolby when we picked him up from preschool. Kolby responded with a sincere, "cool! those are nice". Unfortuneately her nails keep chipping so now she insists we paint her nails every morning, it's just part of her new routine.
********************************************************** On Wednesday Kolby found Transformers season 2 at the library. We're talking old old school here people! He is obsessed! He watches a couple episodes every morning, part of his new routine. ********************************************************** On Thursday I was spending some sweet time with the toilet, part of my new routine, and in an attempt to get Olivia to stop watching me hurl, i told her to go show Kolby her nails. Seconds later i hear screaming from both my children downstairs. I pause my sound effects to make sure they are ok but since i am so attached to the potty all i can to is listen. I hear Olivia screaming "Look at my nails!!!! Look at my nails!!!!!" and Kolby screaming, "I can't I'm watching Transformers!!!!!!" ********************************************************** I chuckle and then up chuck.

Innocence

Caught this pic a few weeks ago and thought how adorable and innocent Kolby looked clinging to Plex, Teddy, and Preston the dinosaur. Don't you just wanna squeeze him?!
Here's a few recent Kolby Convos:
1. Daniel was telling the kids that they were smart.
Kolby: I know, because I have a brain. Its in my head under my bones.
Daniel: Who has a bigger brain, mommy or daddy?
Kolby: Daddy, because he's just bigger.
Daniel: But who is smarter, Mommy or Daddy?
KOlby: um kolby is!
good answer kolbs!
*
2. The other day my heart was breaking as Kolby looked at me and said, "Mommy, you're always tired and you're always sick!" I just had to tell him why.
*
Me: I'm tired and sick because there's a baby in my tummy
KOlby: You are having a baby? Just for me?!
Me: ya, well for our whole family
Kolby: We need to buy a carseat! Then the baby can go places with us and i will play with it. Is it a boy or a girl?
Me: I don't know. What do you think?
KOlby: Its a girl.
Me: Why?
Kolby: so she can share a room with Olivia and i will give her all of Olivia's dolls. I will be very careful with your belly and with the baby. We need to tell dad!
Kolby: You can go to the hospital and there will be nice doctors there and they will cut open your belly and pull the baby out.
I prefer to keep some of Kolby's innocence in the matter of child birth. His aunt is having a C-section so we may just let be the only known way to birthe a baby for now:) Certain realities are too scary for even me to contemplate at the moment.
