Behold the Power of Music

My children have recently shown me how music has changed our lives...
Last week I was out for a run. The girls were in the double jogger and kolby was running close behind me. (Yes my 5 yr old is amazing and yes I am slow...anywho) I noticed Kolby was slowing his pace but then I heard a soft little voice start singing in between huffing and puffing...
"Don't stop believing!"
Thank you Journey. You inspire a lazy momma and a 5 yr old to keep running.
This week I exposed my daughter to The Rolling Stones when she screamed, "but I want that!"
A few days later I heard her singing to Naomi,
"You can't always get what you waaaant..."
Thank you Rolling Stones. You convinced a 4 yr old to be content.
Wonder Pets...you are slowly being replaced:)

"Ice cream...we're gonna have ice cream!"

Anyone else grow up listening to Bill Cosby?
What do you do when its blazn hot outside in Texas?
You eat Blue Bell Ice Cream at the Blue Bell Factory of course:)
Holly, Di, Rosie, Abby and I bused our 15 chill'ns to beat the heat and eat our fair share of ice cream. mmmmm.
Southern Blackberry Cobbler is still my fav!

Happy Father's Day

I gotta admit I'm usually pretty exhausted by the end of Father's Day being as I'm not used to taking care of everything on my own. My hubby's a hard worker and a huge help...I'm kinda spoiled like that. Today I tried really hard to pamper him but he still ended up helping to get the kids ready, took the baby during church, and even washed dishes....see I'm spoiled right.
So today I actually had a blast.
I'm trying to make myself feel better seeing how he was gone all week not to mention that I cooked up a storm!
I made cinnamon rolls, eggs, bacon, and strawberries for breakfast.
I made a manly feast of steak, roasted potaoes, corn on the cob, and rolls, for dinner.
For those of you think'n that's no big deal...trust me it is. I'm a cold cereal and 1 dish dinner kind of gal most nights:)
Hope the way to a my man's heart is still through is stomache.
Happy Father's Day to all the daddas out there!
I don't know what I do without my dad, my father-in-law, or the father of my children.
I'm so grateful for their wonderful examples to me.
Hope you all ate like kings!

Happy Brother Day, Happy Sister Day

Last weekend my 5yr old asked me why we celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day but not Brother's Day.
When I asked him when Brother's Day is he informed me it was to be on Monday and Sister's Day was to be on Wednesday.
I'm always up for a celebration so I readily agreed.
And just what does one do to celebrate Brother's Day and Sister's Day?
You do whatever the brother and sister would like to.
In our case that turned out to be greeting each other with hugs and kisses, telling the brother/sister what we love most about them, eating pancakes and smoothies, swimming all day, and watching a movie (The Little Rascals) with popcorn.
Just to clarify, my 4yr old explained that grown-ups have to have their special days on Sundays so all they get is a nice breakfast and go to church. Brother and Sister Day must be on a Monday and Wednesday so they can actually have fun:)
Glad we cleared that up.
Hope you get a chance to schedule in your very own Brother's Day and Sister's Day...
definitely my 2 favorite days this week:)

How to make Fried Rat in 7 simple steps

"I was never unusaully squeamish; I could sometimes eat a fried rat with a good relish if it was neccessary." -Henry David Thoreau
In an attempt to be like my buddie Thoreau, I decided to forgo those low calorie meals I mentioned previously and try something new now that my health-nut hubby is outta town.
A white trash Ratatouille if you will:)
Fried Rat:
Step 1. Entice your little rodent friend with a comfy cool home, let's say your outdoor AC unit.
Step 2. Crank up the AC, that's right get that electric juice flow'n
Step 3. Don't be alarmed by the temporary power shortage or the strange humming coming from the side of your house.
Step 4. Endure Texas heat without your AC for a few days, making your bedroom a cozy 82 degrees
Step 5. Notify your AC company and then pay them a couple hundred dollars to remove the remains and replace the (luckily under warranty) motor.
Step 6. Add a dash of shame
Wah-la you get....FRIED RAT!
Sorry we gobbled him down so fast I only got a picture of the fried fur he left behind:) If anyone would care for left-overs his body is wrapped in a Walmart bag in my trash can that will bake in the sun for a couple days.
Step 7: Go ahead vomit in your mouth...I'm pretty sure I just did.

Rockstars

Feel'n pretty sad.
My hubby just left for scout camp.
Olivia and I cried as we waved goodbye.
Kolby told me I could sleep with one of his stuffed animals so I wouldn't be lonely.
I know woe is me right?
Then I remembered these hillarious pics from last week.
My kids dressed themselves in "Rock-star" attire complete with a HighSchool Musical T-shirt, skinny jeans, sun glasses, hats (turned on their own) and some rubber rings.

Funny thing is I remember doing the same thing with my sister.

Must be in the blood.

Ahhhh I can always count on my kiddos to make me laugh:)
If you're havn a rough day go ahead and scroll down to see the videos as well...I promise there will be laughter.
