Doggie Days

Over the past year we've made a few doggie friends. The first was Bruce, a 90 lbs boxer, who stayed with us for a month and was basically the most well behaved kanine I've ever met. Second was Muffy the toy poodle who stayed a few weeks and was more afraid of kolby than he was of her. Then Raschenka, the Great Dane, whom kolby thinks is hillarious and olivia is terrified of, came to play for a week. And the newest doggie is....Mickey, the child-loving mut:) We met "Mickey Blue Eyes" (actually only one eye is blue) last january when we went to visit daniel's parents in Aruba. They'll be moving back soon so Mickey flew on over. The kids are pretty much obsessed with the poor dog but he is so gentle with them. We've lost a few cups since kolby insists that Mickey is thirsty and Mickey proceeds to makes sure the cup is dead. I never had a dog as a kid, (despite my "pick me" pictures of beagles on the fridge), so hopefully with all this dog sitting my kids will not be deprived, as far as dogs go anyway.

"I Scream for Icecream"....Bluebell that is!

Last Friday our playgroup took a field trip to the BlueBell Factory. If you've never tried it, its basically a staple amongst the Texans and its soooo yummy! We took a tour and kolby was very excited about all the "huge icecream". Thank goodness I dont' work there. I'd be super bored and super fat form eating all the ice cream a girl could ever want. At the end we got to sample our favorite flavor and play in the sunshine. Perfect ingredients for a play date.

CuTe aS A BuTtOn

We bumped up Olivia's 1st Birthday party to accommodate for her great grandparents and cousins' schedules (eventhough she doesn't turn one until May 2nd). My sister helped me come up with the theme: Cute As A button. After all my needless details I'm sorry to say I forgot to take pictures of quite a few things....the cupcake stands...the "button" pizzas (four pepperoni and one with four canadian bacon), the invitation, the party favors, and sadly olivia as a complete mess. Ah well whacha gonna do. All in all I had a fun time doing a girlie party and daniel was such a great sport about helping me and realizing that details are important to me. I figure the first birthday is the only birthday when I can pick whatever I want:) A more sentimental post will come on her really birthday, until then olivia is still my little baby:)

Great Grandparents

Dear gma and gpa, Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit on your way through the rest of the country. I'm so glad you got to meet olivia and that you got to know kolby better. The kiddos sure loved you!!! Kolby misses you already. Come back soon!

A Case of the Grumps

Saturday we decided to spend some "quality" family time together and visit a state park here with wild alligators. Perhaps I should preface that we all stayed up til midnight (even kolby) and there were no naps to be had. Because of a nameless Walgreens employee who cannot seem to fill ink cartrigdes but doesn't mind taking my money, we could not print off our handy-dandy mapquest directions. We thought we'd wing it. Its a state park for crying out loud. Turns out we got horribly lost in the middle of no where, the kids were screaming their heads off and we were pressed for time. Daniel and I decided we needed to install an eject button under each of the carseats for future car-ride-tantrums. After finally making it to the park no one was in the mood for pics, thus the photoless post. We walked around and the beautiful weather seemed to lift all our spirits. Then we saw a mama gator with her 20 babies just two feet away from us. No gates. No signs. Nothing. It was very cool but somewhat odd to think that they let people get so close to such a dangerous creature. Wish I took my camera. If any of you were cool enough to come visit me I'd take you there....provided that you refrain from screaming while in the car.

"That's too small!"

A few weeks ago i tried to put my fav green T on kolby, he told me "no, that's too small" I realized that perhaps i should stop dressing my nearly 3 year old in 18 month clothes. I laughed and packed up all the "too small" clothes. But now everything is "too small". Half a pb sandwich= "that's too small" A non-country song on the radio-"that's too small" the wrong color toothbrush-"that's too small"....and on and on Basically if he doesn't like it, its "too small". In other news, I need a new camera. I have a really old Cannon Powershot A75.I'm looking for something that takes the most amazing photos ever despite the inexpirenced photographer and is less than $400. Even though its quite large and chuncky for a digi, I suppose you could say "its too small" :) Any suggestions???

Beautiful Sunday!

After yesterday, I decided that we should have General Conference more than just twice a year. Let's face it, sitting through church with two small kids is not the most uplifting experiece. Between nursing, changing bums, sharing snacks, reading books, and walking the halls, daniel and i couldn't really remember the last time we heard an entire sacrament meeting. This weekend was a pleasant change. We let the kids play and color quietly while we sat next to each other and listened to the Prophet and Apostles from the comfort of our playroom. When the kids got fussy we just put them down for a nap and i could actually take notes without little fingers stealing my paper or pen. I'm sure all you young mamas really appreciated Elder Ballard's talk as much as I did. It was so wonderful to have no responsibilities and to just listen. I felt relaxed, uplifted and spiritually fed. Pure heaven! As an added bonus, the weather was gorgeous and we took a family drive out to the wild flowers and blue bonnets for some adorable family photos. Wish you could smell through photos. mmmmmmm....enjoy:)
