How many guys does it take to screw in a light bulb?

...not nearly as many as it takes to carry a solid wood swing set.

We bought kolby a swing set for his birthday. Our friends built it with their own two hands but are moving and needed to sell it. The only problem was that it was huge and heavy.

That's when we called out for some muscles.

Seriously these pics make me giggle. I'm pretty sure i couldn't handle all the manly grunting and power-tool talk for too long but man what great guys! I can't believe they gave up their Saturday to help!

Step1: Try to lift set through the back gate

Step 2: Realize it won't fit

Step 3: divide and conquer by lifting it over the front and neighbor's fence Step 4: Raise your arms and grunt

Step 5: level it out...and maybe talk about tools and stuff

Step 6: Push...arrrr arrr arrr

Step 7: call in the real help

Fish Outta Water

Had a little friend party yesterday for kolby's birthday.

The theme: Fish Outta Water

The kids help me make these super-blue-super-gooey-cupcakes...

We played at the splashpad and ate "fishy" snacks.

The prep and clean up were heavenly.

We feel so lucky to have such great friends!

And super lucky that it poured the days before the party and the afternoon after the party but never during the party:) Because really if there's anything a fish out of water hates its to be rained on:)

Dear Kolby,

Oh man I can't believe it! My first born is 5!

You woke up this morning extra early and extra excited to turn 5.

Dad set out your special birthday donut and choc mik but you were especially happy that he wrote 2 cards for you.

You are so easy to love.

I love that you get the giggles and are silly like me:)

I love that you want to do what's right.

I love that you take care of your sisters

I love that you want to learn.

I love that you try so hard to be brave.

I love that you are dressed and have fixed your own breakfast before i even wake up.

I love that you get to be home with me one more year before

you're off to the big world of kindergarten

"Wii" like to party!

oh man that song get's stuck in my head so easy...

Wii had a family birthday party on Sunday for Kolbs.

Wii played wii, obviously...which he loves!

Wii ate homemade ice-cream cake which everyone loves!

and it was completely stress-free which makes me say wii! heehee

Feedings and Readings

I do most of my reading while nursing. What can i say? If you're forced to sit down for 15 minutes every 3 hours you may as well enjoy it an be productive.

Here's for the girlish demon fighting teen in me

And for the child at heart, greek mythology buff...and the Harry Potter lover

(although these books don't even come close)

And this is for the dreamer...it was written by a family friend and i frankly idolize anyone who has a piece of literature published

and here's the historical fiction...i suppose its my favorite after all.

This book honestly made me laugh out loud and then sob. Its neglect-your-kids-don't-fix-dinner-want-to-become-a-writer good.

perhaps its time for a non-fiction and then i'll start the cycle all over again.

mmmmm so worth it just for the Southern Blackberry Cobbler at the end!
