Stats and Splash
I took Olivia for her 12 month check-up and shots today, always a joy to be in the waiting room forever:) Kolby was also not very happy with the nurse when she gave olivia the shots. Here's how the convo went:
kolby: "Mommy what happened to the baby?"
nurse: "She's just mad at me"
k: "no! no! baby's sad!"
n: "I had to give her shots so she won't get sick"
k: "The baby's sick?"
n: "no! I had to give her shots so she won't get sick!!!"
Mommy: "Now olivia won't get sick, she's all better now"
k: "oh ok, baby's all better"
(in my head): Don't yell at my 2 year old for being a protective brother!
Here's her stats:
weight- 17.3 lbs 10%
height- 27.5 inches 10%
Head- 44.1 cm
So my baby girl is apparently a shrimp? I don't get it. She eats non-stop. If she were my first I might be stressing at the moment but I see everything she eats so I must conclude that she inherited her daddy's metabolism.
As exciting as it would have been to take dr pics here's some fun pics from last friday when we took the kiddos to the splashpad here in the neighborhood. Olivia kept signing "more" when I tried to dry her off. Kolby liked getting his toes wet:) The camera really must add 10lbs bc olivia doesn't look like she's unweight in her onepiece:)

Happy Birthday Olivia Baby!...the real birthday post:)
A year ago today you were born. When I found out I was pregnant with you I was scared to death! I wondered how in the world I could be a mother of two so soon. But Heavenly Father let me know that you were a girl and from that moment on I couldn't help but smile. I was so excited to meet you I jumped on a trampoline the day before you were born:) You must have been excited to meet me too because you came into this world awfully fast. I cried when I didn't really get to see you because you were rushed to the NICU and looked at the few pics we had over and over. I cried again when I held you, and all the tubes, for the first time. You were tiny to me but amongst the premies you looked huge. That's when everyone started calling you "Little Mama".

You have been such a delight and a blessing to our family. You love people, especially you big brother and have a spunky side that makes me laugh. I love you baby girl. Happy Birthday!

just for fun...
You Are Mulan!
Strong and spirited. You're no one's girly girl; actually you are very determined person with a strong sense of self. Never let go of that! The only thing that equals your sense of self is your family, but the traditions of society can always be bent to protect something or someone you love.

Doggie Days
Over the past year we've made a few doggie friends. The first was Bruce, a 90 lbs boxer, who stayed with us for a month and was basically the most well behaved kanine I've ever met. Second was Muffy the toy poodle who stayed a few weeks and was more afraid of kolby than he was of her. Then Raschenka, the Great Dane, whom kolby thinks is hillarious and olivia is terrified of, came to play for a week. And the newest doggie is....Mickey, the child-loving mut:) We met "Mickey Blue Eyes" (actually only one eye is blue) last january when we went to visit daniel's parents in Aruba. They'll be moving back soon so Mickey flew on over. The kids are pretty much obsessed with the poor dog but he is so gentle with them. We've lost a few cups since kolby insists that Mickey is thirsty and Mickey proceeds to makes sure the cup is dead. I never had a dog as a kid, (despite my "pick me" pictures of beagles on the fridge), so hopefully with all this dog sitting my kids will not be deprived, as far as dogs go anyway.

"I Scream for Icecream"....Bluebell that is!

Last Friday our playgroup took a field trip to the BlueBell Factory. If you've never tried it, its basically a staple amongst the Texans and its soooo yummy! We took a tour and kolby was very excited about all the "huge icecream". Thank goodness I dont' work there. I'd be super bored and super fat form eating all the ice cream a girl could ever want. At the end we got to sample our favorite flavor and play in the sunshine. Perfect ingredients for a play date.

CuTe aS A BuTtOn
We bumped up Olivia's 1st Birthday party to accommodate for her great grandparents and cousins' schedules (eventhough she doesn't turn one until May 2nd). My sister helped me come up with the theme: Cute As A button. After all my needless details I'm sorry to say I forgot to take pictures of quite a few things....the cupcake stands...the "button" pizzas (four pepperoni and one with four canadian bacon), the invitation, the party favors, and sadly olivia as a complete mess. Ah well whacha gonna do.
All in all I had a fun time doing a girlie party and daniel was such a great sport about helping me and realizing that details are important to me. I figure the first birthday is the only birthday when I can pick whatever I want:) A more sentimental post will come on her really birthday, until then olivia is still my little baby:)
