Teeth Week

Say AAAAAAWWWWWWW
Thanks to some sweet ideas from my sis Brittany and also my friend Stephanie, oh and the fact that my bro-in-law is a dentist....Teeth week was a success!
We used a white board to discuss brushing in a circular motion.
(Sorry Britt, I'm too cheap to laminate).
Kolby said he needed a drill too.
Kolby drew some teeth too. So Cute! We took a "field trip" to the dentist. Kolby was slightly scared at first. He wanted to make sure it wouldn't hurt. But once he was in the chair he was sooooo good! I couldn't help but giggle when he bit down on the explorer:) He laughed too when the air blew on him he said it tickled. I'm really not very good at making sure he brushes perfectly or flosses so I was holding my breath but he was cavity free!!! Hooray!
When I introduced the vocab word, I said, "What do we call the person who takes care of our teeth?" Kolby yelled, "Mark!" (that's his uncle's name).
Thanks Dr. Lawton! You're the coolest dentist ever!
Ah yes, and the craft? I saw this one at Stephanie's house. I just printed some images from google then used marshmallows for teeth. All you have to do is lick them to get them to stick. Of course my kiddos are probably getting cavities from all the left over marshmallows now:)

Any one else this excited for Easter?

"I want my Daddy"

....these are the first words out of OLIVIA'S mouth Saturday morning. Kolby has always been a totally daddy's boy but for the most part Olivia like to just say a quick hi to her daddy and then it right back to her momma. I was so suprised. I called Daniel and it made him so sad he just had to talk to her on the phone. That night we met up to say hello to Daniel at one of his meets. The kiddos loved it. But Olivia screamed the whole car ride home, "Where'd Daddy go? I want Daddy!" Not sure which is more sad...that she misses her daddy so much or that I could possibly have two "daddy's" children. sniff sniff.

Mr. Grumpy Pants

This is Kolby Saturday at noon, after a no nap week, and staying up til 10:30 the night before. I told him to eat his lunch and then he take a nap because he was grumpy. He said "I'm not grumpy, I'm happy see?" Are you convinced?

Its a miracle...

Olivia held still long enough for me to french braid her hair! well...sort of. The right side was a bit of a struggle. too bad she just went to bed after i was finished. I fix her hair at least 7 times a day....she always always always takes it out. The braids were a little harder to rip out. Ahhh my little defiant Barbie doll:)

Happy Green Day

I tried to be somewhat festive for St. Patrick's Day by taking my kiddos to storytime. Little did I know that the librarian would inform us that there weren't any St. Patrick's day books for toddlers...(lame excuse I think). So she turned it into a "Green day" storytime which was still fun. The kids made some random green humming birds. Next year we'll have to go to the 3-4yr old storytime instead to get the "age appropriate" leprechaun stories:) I guess 2 year olds aren't ready for little people dancing a jig and granting wishes.... such a concept requires maturity.

"Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy"...

MMMMMmmm there's nothing like Texas in the spring time, except maybe texas in the fall and winter time too...(all you utah and idaho people can hate me now). We've been enjoying some made to order weather...perfect for things like, a day at the park.
Monday we headed out to the park (my newest find from last Saturday) with Holly, Ellie, and mom Lawton. We were greeted by this:

Who knew pinatas could be such a growing problem in parks....?

Any one wanna guess what the devil this rodent is called??
The first time we were at the park these little guys stayed in the water so I thought they were beavers. This time there were a lot more of them and they were waddling on the ground. I got to see their disgusting rat tails, webbed feet and the freakiest thing of all...orange teeth.
Olivia warmed right up to them.
Kolby got freaked out when I got a wee carried away joking about a R.O.U.S jumping out and attacking us. Sorry kolbs.
After dealing with those creatures, hand sanitizer was a must. thanks hol.
This one just makes me giggle.
Olivia trying to squeeze her way into kolby and ellie's friendship....too bad they called her a monster and told her she made bad choices :(
Sorry Olivia, these two have been friends since they were babies, you'll just have to hang with me.

Spring Break 2009

My very favorite thing about having a teacher/coach for a hubby, besides his awesome paycheck ha ha ha is his vacation time! I love having him home for spring break. We managed to squeeze in quite a few things along with plenty of r&r. We started the break off right with a fun day of pickleball with a few friends. Then we headed out for Beaumont to visit Daniel's parents. Even though we technically live in "grandma's" house its been really fun to still get to go to grandma's (other) house. Every time we go visit I feel more spoiled than the children. I prop my feet up, read, and get to eat delicious food. We got home late Monday night, I went to the gym on Tuesday and due to a cold front coming in decided at noon to head out for our camping trip early before it got too cold. Basically we threw all the clothes out of the suitcase then packed some play clothes and bought some hot dogs on our way there. It was so fun to have a little get a way with the kids. They were so excited about setting up their own tents and chased every creature we saw. Olivia kept calling the squirrels "Bear". Kolby was sooo adorable helping his daddy build the fire. He called it his "fireside". They gather leaves adn sticks and blew on it. Unfortunately olivia seems to be a pyro...or perhaps its just this "I will touch everything and get into everything esp when you tell me not to stage". We tried roasting our hot dogs but olivia was too curious and kept dropping the done ones in the dirt. Then she tripped and her hand landed in the hot ashes. She balled, I got all teary. I put some Melagel on it (da da da da...Melaucea saves the day) and a sock and gave her some tylenol....add that to a skipped nap and my worries of her falling alsleep were history. She fell alsleep in my arms and slept all night in her very own tent (inside a shelter with the door closed and me sleeping right outside it...i do not leave my children alone to fight off wild beasts...) Daniel and I got to stay up alone sitting by the fire, me finishing my book and daniel enjoying some quite time. The weather was perfect! Not cold, not hot, just right. We ate cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then dropped daniel off at track practice. While we waited I took the kiddos to an awesome park where we saw geese, doves, squirrel and beavers! Then Daniel threw his back out so we ended up watching a bunch of movies at home while the cold front moved in and it poured the rest of the week. We ended the break with a suprise date night. Daniel's meet got finished early so Holly and Tom watched the kiddos while we had a "couples night out" at the church. We watched Fireproof and ate wedding cake and chocolate covered strawberries. The thought of returning back to our usual schedules is depressing but now I can't wait til summer!
