Sharing isn't Caring....

when its the flu! Luckily Olivia has been kinda enough not to share her germs with anyone else yet but since I've held her vomit in my hand multiple times now to prevent yet another load of laundry I'm really crossing my fingers that the nastiness won't spread. I'm going slightly stir crazy and kolby's never been allowed to watch so many movies. He's actually been a really good helper....running the bath water, throwing olivia's clothes in the laundry, and even making his own pb sandwich today. Now i feel awful for yelling at him to take a nap while i mopped the vomit from my kitchen floor. And my "romantic" hubby got up the first night with Olivia, bathed her, changed the crib sheets (which I loathe doing) and then remembered to record American Idol for me last night so I could sit on my bed and cheer silently:) Today after smelling as much vomit as I'd like to for a life time...I sprayed on a little "very sexy" and although i feel far from sexy, i smell dang good:)

Romance?

Here's the card (designed by Rosie) that symbolizes my Valentine's Day:)

Friday night we went to a fabulous Valentine party with delicious food and a hillarious game of "NewlyWeds". (no pics bc I'm an idot)

One of the questions asked who the most romantic couple there was. A bunch of people guessed it was daniel and I. I was shocked to say the least bc I certainly don't concider either of us very romantic. We are the worst at suprising each other. We don't even buy each other presents for birthdays and our anniversary, we just go shopping together. I was sure that these people were completely off.

The next morning, you know, Valentine's Day, I was even more convinced of our non-romantic relationship when my hubby informed me he wanted to go running and have some alone time.

Luckily my sis-in-law was also alone and came over to make cookies with the kids. Thanks for saving my mood and probably my hubby's life too:)(see pics)

That afternoon I told my hubby just how unromantic he was. Then he told me that being romantic is all the little things. He did the dishes all day, cleaned the kitchen, changed a nasty poopy diaper, grocery shopped, and make a yummy yummy dinner. He watched a girlie movie with me and even suprised me with a present...3 perfumes.

So no dozen roses or breakfast in bed this year but I suppose that's not really what I wanted afterall. Good thing my husband knows me better than I know myself. I guess that's pretty romantic afterall.

Here's to being Functional

The other night I read an article called The Functional Family. It talked about the kinds of messages we send our children.
"What messages would you like to intentionally send your children? Do you want them to know that you love them and are thinking about them?..." It then gave a cute idea to tape a note on your child's door to see when they awake.
My hubby tends to get discouraged when he is too busy for family time. With track season about to begin he will be spending less and less evenings with us. I told him about a suggestion in the article and I was pleased to know that he was even listening to me and to see how excited kolby was to have a special note from daddy.

Just for Brittany's entertainment....

oh ya and kaylee's too:) pay no attention to the rooster attempting to steal the spotlight...

Things that make me laugh...

My silly-head children
Miss Drama-Mama (yes she is wearing her spankies and church shoes minus the dress and I am the strange mother laughing at the sight of her throwing a fit on the stairs all bc I tried to take her shoes off...she was snoring 5 minutes after our photo shoot)
The fact that Olivia calls Kolby "B".
The first time I asked her who Kolby was she said, "Pee Pee" I said no, (giggle giggle). Can you say Kolby? "Poo poo" now we moved on to "B" which may or may not be more socially acceptable.
When Kolby and I plug each other's noses and sing I am a Child of God at Bedtime so reverent i know...
How Kolby gets such a thrill out of scaring people...I'm afraid this is all me. Who doesn't love jumping out and saying boo?? yet we are also both the biggest scaredy cats.
Its nice to get in a few laughs between all the "stop throwing monster trucks please"s, "get your hands out of the toilet"s, "don't knock over all the laundry"s, and "you are driving me crazy"s.
